DANIEL McCABE

Daniel McCabe, born in Woodstock, NY. Graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY with a BFA in Photography and Film. He started his journalistic career taking a staff news photographer position in one of New York’s daily newspapers and has also worked in the commercial and fashion industries shooting both stills and video. He began his freelance career by documenting gang and prison related issues in Honduras, moving on to projects such as Kenya’s post-election violence, resource based conflict in Eastern DRC, Haiti’s 2010 earthquake aftermath and HIV in South Africa’s slum Khayelitsha. Currently McCabe covers tribal conflict in Kenya’s lawless north on the Sudan and Somalia borders, and conflict resource issues in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. In 2010 Daniel received AOL’s groundbreaking innovator grant, 25 for 25, for his projects in DRC.Daniel is represented by Redux Pictures and is based in Cape Town, South Africa and Hudson, NY.

ALYSE ARDELL SPIEGEL

EDITOR

Alyse Ardell Spiegel is an award-winning documentary film, television, and commercial editor whose credits include the acclaimed feature documentary by Joe Berlinger, PARADISE LOST 3: PURGATORY (HBO), which chronicles the trials of the West Memphis 3 and was nominated for Best Documentary Feature in the 84th Academy Awards. Her first feature, CRUDE, the story of a lawsuit brought by 10,000 Ecuadorians against Chevron over contamination of the Ecuadorian Amazon, won her a best editing award. Her other feature work includes UNRAVELED (SHOWTIME), a film which chronicles the story of prominent lawyer Marc Dreir while he awaits life imprisonment under house arrest for defrauding millions from hedge funds and THE PROJECT (currently on the festival circuit) about a private army in Somalia trained by mercenaries to fight pirates off of the Horn of Africa. Spiegel’s television credits include the Emmy nominated series OPRAH’S MASTERCLASS (OWN), DEMI LOVATO: STAY STRONG (MTV) and TOP TEN MONKS (HBO). Spiegel’s commercial editing credits include the Emmy-nominated ONE campaign to end poverty, and the Clio-winning web series BOLD MOVES documenting the turn around of the Ford Motor Company. A fluent Spanish speaker, Spiegel has worked in Cuba, South Africa, and across North America. She lives in New York City.

GEOFF MCLEAN

PRODUCER

Geoff has produced hundreds of commercial and music video projects for international directors, clients, agencies, labels and artists in a wide variety of locations around the world. He has been involved in countless award winning projects and was nominated for a Grammy in 2010. In 2011 he produced Deadman – a co-production with the National Film Board of Canada which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Currently he is producing a feature length documentary entitled This is Congo which explores the ongoing fight for the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo’s vast mineral wealth and is slated for release in 2014. He is also one of the Executive Producers of Grave Encounters II, part of the horror franchise voted by Forbes Magazine as one of the 10 scariest horror films of 2012. Geoff is the founder and Executive Producer of Vision Film Co, one of the music industry’s leading video production companies and continues to work for some of the top commercial production companies and directors in the industry.

HOREB BULAMBO

FIELD PRODUCER

Born in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in 1970, Horeb Bulambo attended College Mwanga majoring in Literature, Latin and Philosophy, continuing his education at the Uganda School of Media majoring in Photography and Video Production. In 2000 Horeb began working as Communications Officer for ACPN (Community Action for the Protection of Nature) in conjunction with the Diane Fossey Gorilla Fund, where he managed relations between the organization and local populations. From 2002 to 2009 he worked at World Vision organization as Communications Officer, specializing in hostile environments, moving on to become the senior trainer of World Vision field staff in Crisis and Conflict Management. His responsibilities at World Vision include multimedia production, national and international media relations as well as organizing and executing field operations within DRC.In 2009 Horeb became MONUSCO’s (largest UN peacekeeping mission in the world) lead reporter, traveling to remote areas of DRC providing on camera reports of UN field operations (MONUSCO Realite), appearing on several national television channels as well as radio to inform and update the nations population on the United Nations peace keeping mission’s progress. Currently Horeb works as a freelance communications specialist and reporter for international film and media organizations, and is an independent film producer/director, winning Best Narrative Film in 2008 at the Picha Film Festival (largest in DRC) in Lubumbashi, DRC for his film Racial Prejudice. In his travels Horeb has visited all 11 provinces of DRC and 17 African countries, he speaks 8 languages including French, English and Latin as well as worked in every major conflict zone within DRC since 1996. Horeb is currently based in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo with his wife and three children.

BRENDAN LYNCH

Brendan Lynch is a freelance film and television producer based out of Toronto Canada. His work includes multiple national and international television commercials. He has also produced videos for some of Canada’s leading independent bands.He produced an award winning short film that won the Vimeo Grand Jury prize and currently is the president of Traffic Productions. He has tour managed and managed platinum and multi platinum recording artists including Metric and Broken Social Scene and, as president of Auricle Artist Management, he developed and managed Canadian and international recording artists. Brendan has lived and worked in area’s of the world where he has seen inequities and injustices first hand. This film is an opportunity for him to bring his passion for film, music and human rights together to help make a difference to the people of the Congo.

MICHAEL COHL

Michael Cohl is a Canadian concert promoter, theatrical producer, and touring impresario. He is the former Chairman of Live Nation, the largest live entertainment company in the world. Cohl now runs S2BN Entertainment, with offices in Miami and Toronto. Deemed the “Howard Hughes of Rock ‘n’ Roll” by Fortune Magazine, Cohl is most known for overseeing the tours and ancillary businesses for more than 150 artists, including Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Pink Floyd, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and U2. He currently is the lead producer of “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,” the most expensive musical in Broadway history, with music by Bono and The Edge of U2. Cohl was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, when he received a Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award at the 2002 Juno Awards. Cohl is also a recipient of the 2004 Billboard “Legend of Live” award, an honor previously bestowed on such artists as Elton John and The Allman Brothers Band. When “Spamalot” won the 2005 Drama Desk and Tony® Award for Best Musical, Cohl was among the producers who received the awards.

Karol is an Austrian-born American entrepreneur and media industry innovator with broad motion picture, broadcast, print, and Internet backgrounds and his career spans over two decades including leadership in the American independent film industry. Currently the President of Film & Media for S2BN Entertainment, he was previously SVP&GM; of Film at Babel Networks, Head of Film at Chris Black- well’s Palm Pictures, President of RES Media Group and President/Publisher of Silicon Alley Report- er. Eli Cohl was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Working his way up the ranks in the entertainment industry, he has been an integral team member for several high-profile tours including stage rigging, carpentry, video & camera operator positions with the Rolling Stones, U2, David Bowie, Phil Collins, The Police & Shakira. Eli spent a some time working as a Manager for Live Nation Artists & a few years with S2BN Entertainment in Miami. Eli manages The Treasures (band), who released their debut album on Universal Music Canada in April of 2013 to critical acclaim. Eli currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife Tum and daughter Stella. In 2012 Eli moved back to Toronto where he co-founded Two Cohls, which oversees management, record label and publishing services for musical artists & performers. Two Cohls specializes in growing & branding emerging acts, strategic partnerships and other music related ventures. Two Cohls will release the “This Is Congo” soundtrack.
